The United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) require individuals applying for legal residency to be free from certain illnesses; as well as obtain designated immunizations, prior to being granted a change in status. Sometimes, these exams are required on short notice. We are experts and immigration physicals and are knowledgeable about the immigration immunizations called for. Even better than that: we are available on short notice. Our staff can help you through the process, and we speak many languages to make the process easier. More importantly, not all physicians can perform immigration physical exams. We at Stat Health have several doctors designated “Civil Surgeons” by Immigration Services. What is the immigration physical exam? You can find the details on the form I-693, which you will need to bring to the immigration physical exam appointment. However, the following is a summary of the visit:

  1. Physical exam by our civil surgeon.
  2. TB skin test (age 2 years and up).
  3. Chest X-Ray if your TB skin test is positive.
  4. Blood tests.
  5. Discussing and recommending vaccination requirements for the completion of your I-693 form.
  6. Sealing the completed I-693 form in our secure envelope.
  7. Communicating and providing any further information to the USCIS after you submit your completed I-693 form.
Applicants should be aware that the initial visit may require follow-up if a TB skin test is applied. Some individuals cannot take the test and will require an x-ray. Other tests may also require completed reports before the doctor can sign the form.

What immigration immunizations are required?

Unless the applicant can provide valid evidence of immunization, the following are required:

  1. Mumps, Measles and Rubella (MMR).
  2. Polio.
  3. Tetanus and diphtheria toxoids.
  4. Pertussis.
  5. Influenza.
  6. Hepatitis A.
  7. Hepatitis B.
  8. Haemophilus influenza type B.
  9. Varicella.
  10. Pneumococcal.
  11. Rotavirus.
  12. Meningococcal.
There may be further immunizations required, as recommended by the Advisory Committee for Immunization Practices (ACIP). This is often determined by the region of the world you are immigrating from.
